The Process

From fibre to finished piece
Every Lacorine piece begins with the careful selection of natural fibres and ends with a garment designed to be worn, kept, and lived in. The process is deliberate and unhurried, shaped by material, skill, and time.
By working close to the source and with experienced artisans, we maintain clarity and care at every stage.
Fibre Selection
The process begins with alpaca fibre sourced in Peru, chosen for its softness, resilience, and natural performance. Fibres are selected with attention to quality and consistency, ensuring they meet the standards required for lasting wear.
This considered approach allows the natural characteristics of the fibre to guide the design.

Spinning and Preparation
Once selected, fibres are cleaned and spun with care to preserve their integrity. This stage determines much of the finished garment’s feel, strength, and drape.
Traditional techniques are used to ensure the yarn remains soft yet durable, capable of retaining its shape over time.
Weaving, Knitting, and Construction
Depending on the piece, yarns are woven or knitted using established methods refined through generations of practice. Construction is guided by simplicity and function, allowing the material to perform naturally.
Each garment is shaped with attention to proportion, movement, and comfort.

Finishing and Quality Control
The final stages focus on finishing details and quality checks. Edges are refined, textures are assessed, and each piece is reviewed for consistency and craftsmanship.
Rather than mass uniformity, subtle variation is accepted as part of the handmade process — a reflection of care rather than imperfection.
Designed for Longevity
The process concludes not at the point of sale, but with how a piece is worn and cared for over time. By favouring natural fibres, considered construction, and careful finishing, we create garments intended to endure.
A thoughtful process allows materials, skill, and time to shape each piece naturally.
