Sustainability

Responsibility through considered design
At Lacorine, sustainability is not approached as a statement or a label. It is the result of considered choices — about materials, production, scale, and longevity.
By prioritising natural fibres, skilled craftsmanship, and enduring design, we aim to reduce impact while creating pieces that are worn and kept for years.
Natural Fibres
We work primarily with alpaca and other natural fibres chosen for their performance, durability, and renewability. Alpaca fibre is biodegradable, long-lasting, and requires minimal chemical processing.
Its natural warmth and breathability reduce the need for synthetic alternatives, allowing garments to function as intended without excess.

Responsible Sourcing
Alpaca fibre is sourced in Peru, where the animals are shorn seasonally with care for their wellbeing. By remaining close to the origin of the fibre, we maintain greater visibility and accountability throughout the supply chain.
Our sourcing practices prioritise transparency, long-term relationships, and respect for animals, people, and place. As a member of BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK, Lacorine supports fair trade principles that promote responsible and ethical collaboration.
Small-Scale Production
We produce in limited quantities, working with small workshops and artisan groups rather than large-scale factories. This allows for careful workmanship, reduced waste, and closer oversight at every stage.
Producing less also means designing more intentionally — creating pieces that are not tied to trends or rapid seasonal turnover.

Longevity Over Volume
Durability is one of the most effective ways to reduce environmental impact. By designing garments that retain their shape, comfort, and relevance over time, we encourage longer use and fewer replacements.
Longevity is built into our process — from fibre selection to construction and care.
A Measured Approach
We recognise that no production is without impact. Rather than making absolute claims, we focus on continuous improvement, transparency, and making responsible decisions within our scale.
Sustainability, for us, is an ongoing practice shaped by restraint, accountability, and respect for craft.
We believe responsibility is expressed through how something is made, how long it lasts, and how it is valued over time..
