Earth Day
Where nature, craft and responsibility shape every fibre
Earth Day invites reflection on the relationship between materials and the natural world. Every textile begins with a landscape, shaped by the animals, fibres and communities that bring it to life. For Lacorine, alpaca wool reflects a natural balance between craftsmanship, environmental care and the enduring value of responsible materials.
Alpacas have lived in the Andes for centuries, adapted to one of the world’s most delicate mountain environments. Unlike many grazing animals, alpacas move lightly across the land. Their soft padded feet minimise damage to soil and vegetation, allowing the fragile alpine ecosystem to regenerate naturally.
The fibre they produce carries this same balance. Alpaca wool provides exceptional insulation while remaining lightweight and breathable, allowing warmth without excessive layering. Naturally durable and resistant to pilling, alpaca fibres maintain their structure over time, helping garments and accessories remain wearable for years.
Longevity is central to sustainable materials. Pieces that last reduce the need for frequent replacement and encourage a slower relationship with clothing. Scarves, ponchos and knitwear crafted from alpaca often become familiar companions, returning season after season with the same warmth and comfort.
All Lacorine alpaca pieces are crafted from ethically sourced Peruvian alpaca wool, valued for its natural durability, softness and breathability. Handmade in the Andes using heritage techniques, each item is produced in limited quantities, reflecting a commitment to craftsmanship and responsible materials.
